James K. Hogan is the primary force of James K. Hogan & Associates.  He has contacts in many areas and can call upon them to present clients to customers who they know.  His contacts are in the area of hospital management, wound care and hyperbaric medicine, laboratory services, diabetic supplies and pharmacy, just to mention a few. He usually deals at the “C” suite level since the lower management personnel are not the decision makers.

Some of the firm’s clients are:

A company that manufactures a device that takes all types of waste and heats it to over 3,000 degrees reducing it to solid and gas. It captures the gas that can be used as fuel. The gas can be further processed and hydrogen extracted. This company is ideal for municipal waste disposal or medical waste disposal. They manufacture units that can process from 5 tons of waste per day to 25 tons. If larger units are needed, they simply marry 2 or more units to meet the needs of the customer.

A company that assists health insurers in negotiating its contracts for laboratory services. They negotiate or re-negotiate contracts that a health insurance company has with laboratories. Their efforts usually result in a savings to the insurance company of about 10% to 20% on its lab bills. The president of this company will only deal at the highest levels of the insurance company as anyone under that level will be protective of the contracts that they have negotiated and be an obstacle as opposed to a help. If there is a health insurance company with any interest, the president will go to them and make a presentation. The amount of money health insurers spend on lab work is very significant, so even a savings of 10% can be well into 7 or 8 figures.

Service Contract Insurance. - This is very good for hospitals - a 100 bed hospital will usually pay about $1 million in service contacts. This is for anything that plugs in, from copiers to MRI machines. The company replaces the standard service contracts with an insurance policy. When the client needs service, the company calls the same vendor and pays time and material to have the problem resolved. The net savings to the hospital is about 15%. This is also good for MRI facilities, and large businesses with a lot of electronic equipment.

Reduction of electrical and IT charges. A company is based in New Jersey, but deals on a national basis with hospitals and large businesses - where the electric bill is over $10,000 per month. They do a survey, at no charge, and propose savings up to 15%. They also review the IT and TelCom area and those savings, which may include a no cost re-wiring with fiber optic cables, are higher.

We are working with hospitals to streamline their logistics. Many hospitals have purchasing departments, but some departments operate outside of that Department, thereby costing the hospital thousands of additional dollars. Additionally, most hospitals utilize Group Purchasing Organizations, when they have enough volume where they can order directly from the manufacturer and realize a significant discount. A hospital in New Jersey was able to realize a savings of over $500,000.00 with one supplier as a result of one of our contacts re-negotiating their contract.

A company that works with hospitals to establish a wound care center and hyperbaric medicine suite. They also incorporate a sleep center into the suite. This company must have the full commitment from the hospital as it provides the wound care center and hyperbaric chambers at no charge to the hospital. They enter into a management agreement with the hospital, and do all of the billing. The hospital has to provide some personnel to work in the suite, and the company will assist in training. This entity does business primarily in the United States but they will look at opportunities outside of this country. If this is done correctly, the hospital may realize revenue in excess of $1 million per year, without any outlay of capital – they just have to provide the space and bring the oxygen system that is already in the hospital to the space.
